We all know that video uses up batteries quickly but we can actually shoot an entire function now that we have the extra long life battery. This long life battery extends the usefulness of the camcorder immensely.
It allows me to recoed a whole soccer game and still have plenty of recording time left. It lasts a good 4-4.5 hours without fail. Worth the money just for the convenience. I bought this battery to be able to record longer lenghts of video without changing out the battery. I have no complaints.
A great battery: being a little bit bigger in size then a regular BP-807, it has a tripple power storage.
You would think a $1000 camcorder would come with a better battery but no luck. I have the new HFS100 and this is a must if you plan on using it over an hour. Batteries that come new with camcorders are poor.
So better to go with the OEM. I did not really have a choice in the matter as the alternative, generic battery, might cause certain problems for the Vixia HF S100 camera. Like the title said, EXPENSIVE. The battery probably cost $10 to make and they're charging $50 for it.
